Los Angeles AIDS Monument to be Dedicated on World AIDS Day
(ContentDesk) November 18, 2004 -- Dionne Warwick, internationally acclaimed singer and humanitarian whose work on behalf of people with AIDS around the globe has touched millions, will sing the AIDS-inspired song, "That's What Friends Are For" at the dedication of The Wall-Las Memorias AIDS monument on World AIDS Day, December 1, 2004 at Lincoln Park, 3540 Mission Road. The dedication begins at 7 p.m., following an ecumenical service at 5 p.m. at Church of the Epiphany, 2808 Altura Street. The evening's activities are free and open to the public.
???The 10,000 square foot monument is composed of two 9'x12' granite memorial panels and six copper-clad panels holding murals painted by Southern and Baja California artists.
The monument will be unveiled
in the presence of families, elected officials, clergy, celebrities, and community leaders.???Names of California residents may be submitted to be etched on the monument's granite memorial panels.
